General rules
The 8th International Balys Dvarionas Competition for Young Pianists and Violinists will be held in Vilnius from June 1-7, 2008.
The Piano Competition will be held at the National M.K.Čiurlionis School of Art (T.Kosciuškos St. 11); the Violin Competition will be held at the Balys Dvarionas Ten-Year School of Music (T.Kosciuškos St. 13).
The Competition is open to Pianists and Violinists of all nationalities who were born on or
after June 19, 1988.
A non-refundable Entrance Fee is 60 EUR and this must be paid by March 15, 2008. On payment the full name of the Competitor should be given. The Entrance Fee is payable at the secretariat of the Competition or to the following bank account:

All Competitors are responsible for their own expenses during the Round 1 of the Competition.
On request free accommodation and breakfast at M.K.Čiurlionis School of Art student dormitory will be provided to all the Round 2 and Round 3 Competitors.
Travel expenses are the responsibility of each Competitor.
Accompanists are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses during the entire Competition.
On request professional accompanists will be provided for the duration of the Competition on payment of an additional fee of 60 EUR. This fee entitles to two 60-minutes rehearsals prior to each Round of the Competition.
Competitors should arrive and register at the Competition Desk from 12:00 to 18:00 on May 31 or from 8:00 to 9:30 on June 1 at the following address:

Lithuanian text takes precedence over this translation in any dispute concerning interpretation of the Competition rules.
The next International Balys Dvarionas Competition for Young Pianists and Violinists is anticipated to take place in 2012.
